Relationships are hard.

And the truth is, so many of us don’t have models for how to be in a healthy relationship as an adult.

So when things go sideways with our partners, it feels incredibly scary.

Couples therapy slows it all down.

So you can find your way back.

Services offered

  • I work with couples all over the state of Michigan for marriage counseling or couples therapy through my secure telehealth platform. No need to travel to see me! I’m glad to be able to offer the transformative power of this work to couples all over the state.

  • 1:1 emotionally-focused therapy for individuals looking to improve relationships with others and with themselves.

The drama of love is all about this hunger for safe emotional connection, a survival imperative we experience from the cradle to the grave. Loving connection is the only safety nature ever offers us.
— Dr. Sue Johnson, "Hold Me Tight"

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy?

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based approach that is widely considered a gold standard intervention for couples counseling. As an Ann Arbor couples therapist trained in EFT, I offer an experiential form of therapy that gives each partner the space to explore and understand their own emotional landscape. When we are clear about our own emotions, we gain confidence in sharing them with our partners, and finding security when our needs can be met in new ways.

Online statewide

The evidence supports the effectiveness of virtual therapy, and without transit time, it can be easier to ft into a packed schedule. Also, you can join from anywhere! So no matter where you live, work or play across the state of Michigan, you can access sessions with an EFT therapist via a secure telehealth platform.

Do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, and I don’t bill insurance directly, so my services are private pay only.

Your insurance provider can give you more information about potentially being reimbursed for accessing out-of-network care through me. Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask:

  • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health care? How much has been met this year?

  • What is my co-insurance once the deductible has been met?

  • Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see an out of network provider?

  • How do I submit claims for reimbursement?

  • For couples: do you offer reimbursement for CPT code 90847 and diagnostic code Z63.0?

How does couples therapy work?

First, we will schedule a zoom call with both partners to meet with me. This will last about 20-25 minutes, and it gives you a chance to share more about your experience of the relationship. I can share more about my approach, and you can ask any questions you have of me. Then, if you’re ready, you can schedule your first session on the call. I’ll send you an email with a link to my secure client portal to fill out new client paperwork before the first session. I typically meet with couples weekly to start.

I will see you as a couple for our first session, and then I will meet with each of you individually for one session. The individual session is an opportunity for me to get to know and build trust with each partner. After that, typically all of our sessions are together.

Do you see individual clients?

Yes, I do! I work with individuals who have experienced distress in relationships, and who are longing for more security in their connection with themselves and with others.

What days of the week do you offer sessions?

I see clients in the morning and early afternoon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. My earliest sessions are at 8 am, and the last one is usually at 1 pm, though I do have limited availability for later session times.

Are you accepting new clients now?

Yes! I have immediate openings for new clients, and can usually schedule you within 1 week.

My Values

I believe everyone (everyone!) deserves safe, secure relationships and the opportunity to process their lived human experience without judgment. I strive to live this value in each moment in my practice. I take a compassionate, non-pathological approach to my work, and every client “makes sense” to me.

Deep personal growth becomes possible in the context of secure and connected relationships.
